BADIN: Jeay Sindh Mahaz (JSM) chairman Riaz Chandio has asked state agencies to go after ‘corrupt’ rulers of the province and the elements who are bent upon tearing apart communal harmony instead of whisking away ‘peaceful’ workers of nationalist parties and activists of rights groups.

In a press statement issued here on Monday, Mr Chandio rejected the impression that the message and philosophy of Jeay Sindh Tehreek founder G.M. Syed was failing due to ongoing operation by law enforcement agencies (LEAs).

He claimed that only a handful of people from Badin, Thar, Thatta, Dadu and Mirpurkhas had deserted Jeay Sindh Mahaz (JSM), Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz-Arisar (JSQM-A) and JSQM-Basheer.

He said that over 200 people including rights activists had been whisked away during ongoing crackdown and demanded all the ‘missing persons’ should be produced in courts of law. “I am not disappointed at the desertion of a few over fears of getting ‘disappeared’. The movement launched by their leader will not abate or die down, it had braved similar crises during operations in the past as well,” he said.

He lashed out at JSMM chief Shafi Burfat, who according to him, was carrying out terror acts in Sindh in the name of nationalism.
