KARACHI: Opener Usman Khan’s century and seven-wicket haul from left-arm spinner Faraz Ahmad Khan helped Zone VI whip Zone III by eight wickets in their PCB Senior Inter-District Cricket Tournament fixture at the KCCA Stadium here on Monday.
Batting firs, Zone III were bowled out for 240 in 72.2 overs of their first innings. Ammar Hasan scored 79 off 124 with the aid of eight boundaries.
Faraz picked up five wickets for 81 runs.
Zone-VI piled up 358-5 in the allotted first-innings quota of 83 overs to secure a handy lead of 118 runs. Opener Usman hit exactly 100 from 159 balls while striking nine fours and a brace of sixes.
Usman was involved in a 166-run opening stand with Faraz Ali, who chipped in with a 108-ball 79 that included seven fours and two sixes.
Mohammad Waqas then arrived to slam five sixes and three fours in making a resourceful 82, while the young left-handed all-rounder Danish Aziz blasted 55).
Zone III were bundled out for 154 in their second innings despite Shahzar Mohammad contributing a defiant 70.
Danish Aziz bagged three wickets.
Requiring only 37, Zone-VI lost two wickets before winning.
