RAWALPINDI: Pakistan International Airlines acquired three more narrow-body Airbus A320 aircraft on wet lease from Viet Jet, the Vietnamese airlines, for three months.

Mashhood Tajwar, a spokesman for PIA, said in a press release that these aircraft would be flying on domestic and regional routes.

The aircraft had been acquired in accordance with PPRA rules, he said.

In a related development, the PIA’s newly-acquired Boeing 777 aircraft started flying on international routes.

The first flight of the plane, PK-757, took off from Lahore to London on Saturday with more than 200 passengers on board.

The spokesman quoted passengers of the flight as expressing their satisfaction over the plane and hoping that the national flag-carrier would continue its improvement plans.

The spokesman said that PIA Chairman Irfan Elahi had congratulated workers for induction of more aircraft and said the airlines would continue to provide more facilities to passengers.
