Nawaz seat: Election in NA-120 to take place on September 17

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the schedule for election in NA-120, which was left vacant after the disqualification of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

According to the ECP schedule released on Tuesday, the election in NA-120 will take place on September 17, while candidates will be able to submit their nomination papers between August 10-12. The ECP will review nomination papers between August 15-17.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Dr Yasmeen Rashid are expected to contest the election on tickets of PML-N and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf, respectively.

The Supreme Court, in its verdict on the Panamagate case, had found Nawaz Sharif "unfit to hold office", following which the PML-N leader stepped down from his post. Shortly after, the ECP also issued a notification disqualifying Nawaz Sharif as a member of the National Assembly

If free and fair elections are held in NA-120 (which is to be honest not possible in the presence of Corruption Mafia PML-N) PTI will win easily. PTI's candidate Dr. Yasmeen Rashid is an intellectual of the highest grade. Giid choice PTI.

@A Ali... Can't have it both ways my dear... Supreme court declared no major systematic rigging took place in 2013... Supreme court disqualified Nawaz Sharif.... Lets respect both decisions..

I really don't think Dr. Yasmin stands a chance against Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore. 1. Incumbency factor 2. Shehbaz Shrif's reputation in Lahore 3. NA 120 is the stronghold of N league 4. PMLN will leave no stones unturned in the campaign. Lets just hope for a fair election.

its too obvious SS will win... on the contrary, I guess that SS will relinquish his CM post, will win NA120 and assume PM offfice... B U T his Hudaybia and Gulf Steel references in NAB will get him disqualiffied forever, opening the way for NS daughter/son way to PM seat... this is what NS thinks. fortunately, long before that NS and his family will be either fleeing the country or stay behind bars in the wake of 19 references in NAB.

My only question to these leaders is following: Why are you wasting Tax Payers money by holding election in NA 120, then you will hold election in CM seat because he resigned to go to NA. Can't we make any legislation that where a seat is vacant only a year ago, there should not be any election process held and invest the money saved in that constituency. What is the logic behind making one person PM for 45 days?
