SHANGLA: Scores of political activists of Pakistan Muslim League-N in Banda Pir Abad area here on Friday announced to quit their party and joined the Qaumi Watan Party.

They made the announcement at a public meeting, which was attended by large number of people. QWP Shangla chief Mutawakel Khan was the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that Pakhtuns had been ignored in the mega projects by the federal government. He added that the Shangla people were kept backward by PML-N leaders as the locals had no facilities and were facing severe problems.

Those who joined the QWP included Raham Bacha, Bakht Mand Gul, Rehmat Zeb, Bakht Zamin, Noor Jamala, Abdul Khaliq and others.

They said that they expected the QWP chairman Aftab Ahmad Sherpao to work for welfare their village.

Meanwhile, a man drowned in Kana Khwar River while beating the heat on Friday.

Police said that a man identified as Manzoor of Damorai along with his friends had gone to Kana Khwar River for taking bath. But, Manzoor suddenly drowned, adding his friends tried to trace him, but failed.

The body was later fished out by local divers and shifted to hospital.
