The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Lahore said it had arrested two 'terrorists' belonging to the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Jamaatul Ahrar (JuA) on Tuesday evening. Improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and grenades were also recovered from the suspects, a statement from the CTD said.

"The CTD Team has arrested two terrorists/members of banned organization JuA/TTP, namely Ali Noor and Sartaj Khan, from Walton Road Lahore," read the statement.

"They were preparing to launch an attack on personnel of law enforcement agencies in next week," it added.

A CTD investigation team was at the crime scene and an investigation was underway, the statement read.

A press release from Inter-Services Public Relations stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa FC had conducted an intelligence based operation in the Duagai area of Tehsil Mamund in Bajur Agency. A large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered during the operation, it said.

The recovered materials included sub-machine guns, rocket propelled grenades, fully-prepared suicide jackets, remote control bombs,11 boxes of ball bearings, grenades and communication equipment.
