SINGAPORE, Aug 11: Wapda has agreed in a tender to buy 660,000 tons of fuel oil between October 2003 and September 2004 at $2 per ton over Mediterranean 180-centistoke (cst) quotes, company officials said on Monday.

Wapda awarded the tender to Karachi Container and Engineering Pvt Ltd, which offered a 55,000-ton cargo of 180-cst fuel oil per month for delivery to Port Qasim near Karachi on a cost-insurance-freight basis, said Sikandar Khan, executive director of oil for Wapda.

The tender, which closed on July 23, mostly generated offers with premiums of $15-$16 per ton over various price benchmarks from such companies as SPL, Petroplus, ICI Pakistan, Bakri Trading, Fal Oil, Pakistan State Oil, Vitol and International Supply UAE, a trader said.—Reuters
