LAHORE: Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) arrested six militants, including one woman, in Punjab on Friday under the ongoing Operation Raddul Fasaad.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the Rangers, police and intelligence agencies raided a place in Dera Ghazi Khan and arrested two people of militants’ facilitators and seized a cache of illegal weapons, ammunition and LEAs’ uniforms from them. The suspects were said to be transporting weapons and ammunition for terrorism in Punjab and Sindh.

In another operation, Punjab police arrested wanted militant Mujeebur Rehman, of North Waziristan, at Chashma check post in Mianwali, Mianwali District Police Officer Sadiq Ali Dogar said.

A strict monitoring was being carried out on all inter-provincial check posts with the Smart Verification and Alert System and Anti-Vehicle Car Lifting System.

Also, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of police arrested three members of banned outfits.

A CTD spokesman said they got information that two suspected terrorists belonging to Lashkar-i-Jhangvi were present in a house near Sheikhupura Morr on GT Road in Gujranwala. They were planning to attack sensitive installations in Gujranwala.

They were identified as Muhammad Sufian and Zaheeruddin.

The spokesman said they also recovered 845 grams explosive, two detonators and 40 inch prima cord from them.

In another operation, the CTD arrested a member of the so called Islamic State (IS) in Gujarat’s Pulli Sewerage Drain area.

He was identified as Nazir Husain. The CTD recovered 1.700 grams explosive, one detonator and 40 inches prima cord from him.
