LAHORE: The Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) has directed the Government College University, Faisalabad, the National College of Business Administration and Economics, and the Indus Institute, DG Khan to address their degree and affiliation issues.

The PHEC has taken notice of the matter on the protest of the students of these institutions.

According to the PHEC, the three institutions have been directed to decide the matter in the light of the decisions taken at a meeting of the committee constituted by Minister for Higher Education Raza Ali Gilani, and submit report by July 20.

The commission said the institutes should “verify results and records of 224 students as per their list and own them and continue the education of 224 out of 417 students whom registration numbers have been issued by the colleges”. It said the studies of 193 students who were not provided with registration cards earlier would be completed through condensed courses within a short span of time by the NCBA and GCUF without any type of financial burden on students.

“The result/mark sheets of all the students will be verified by NCBA and GCUF and their studies will continue without further delay... Studies of students will be restored from the point of withdrawal of affiliation.”

PCSW: The annual summer internship programme has kicked off at the Punjab Commission on the Status of Women in collaboration with the Social Enterprise Development Centre (SEDC) at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).

The programme is for two weeks and interns from various universities and colleges within Pakistan and abroad are participating in it. During the course interns will be tasked with conducting four research-based studies on various subjects which are key to PCSW’s mandate of securing women’s rights.
