People need education. Not metros! Because education is the only way to change the behavior of people.

We need to act civilised firstly, blaming the government for everything is useless. Sadly, I feel we are the most uncivilised nation in this era of 21st century.

They did not get the news that more than 200 perished while collecting the fuel few days ago ? It is not lake of education it is lake of responsibility and typical mindset of our society where loot is justified and then pin the blame to rulers that they are corrupt. This happens in the societies where politics is everything and personal egos are above everything as all political parties are focused on some no issues claiming to be solving the issues of people. Kindly explain me how metro made people to behave in this way? What is the relation between metro and this mindset please explain me?

It is a fashion to blame Police for everythingEvery religion teaches that stealing is a sin (it is not the duty of the Police to teach us that) Public at large knows that, but still people learn no lesson even from a tragedy and hide behind a claim of poverty ( mostly false).Despite all this govt must strictly control speed of lorries and all tankers to prevent accidents.

I have seen people stealing from dead corpses from road accidents ! . This behaviour doesnot need education but severe punishment.

The growing number of accidents of Oil Tankers have been overseen by Authorities. Rumors regarding to illegal sale of Oil in the black market by drivers subsequently burning or turning their vehicles over has been a common trend in the country. The authorities should investigate the matter properly for the sake of safety of human lives.

To save lives Pakistan Government need to make it a law that all trucks and vans should be fitted with speed control units like in developed Countries so that vehicle would not go beyond 90KM per hour

@haider shaikh Some people have taken it upon themselves to say that there is no meed for METROS.

We learn from our present senior generation and that is ethically corrupt.The basic thing is that we lie in every matter and thus the entire society have lost moral values as such the problems begin from lies.If we visit our past,may be 50 years back there were no iron grills or locks at any home but for many reasons our conduct gradually degraded and is now at worst.It will surely recover after repetition of many similar tragedies and we will be perfect nation with head high.This is how civilisation survives.

Under the current economics of Pakistan, majority of its people cannot meet basic necessity of life. That is why people rush wherever they can find one meal no matter how risky it may be. Reason current and past rulers of the country.

People actually need some common sense - not money and not even education - for the sake of their families and kids. There is no lesson bigger than seeing the deaths of 150+ people doing the same stuff they are doing, there is no way these people didn't hear about that. If that did't deter these dolts I doubt education would do any better. It is high time we started calling a spade a spade. These people are neither poor nor uneducated. They are just extremely greedy - greedy for money and not about life.

@Ahtasham your English is pretty good. Your dad must have afforded the cost of your education when you came out as flesh, so also use some sense that is gifts job to open schools unis, train people not with buses n roads.

@haider shaikh just like roti kapra aur makan it is the duty of every government to gives it's people free education and free health services. But what a pity free education( foreign scholarship ) and free health services (foreign hospitals) enjoyed by those who are the either elite class people orcorrupt politician and beurucrates.

@haider shaikh, Ya, if we did not have the Metro Projects in Lahore and Now under PTI in Peshawar, there would not be any such incidents. Yes people do need education so they do not confuse Metro with Educations. Karachi or Sindh do not have Metro, I think that's why their Education system is World Standard, right?

To not steal, people need moral values rather than education etc.I do not know what people have to say about Afghans, but but while they were around in Islamabad , their children would not steel, and would not accept any help even if offered. They used to work hard and earn little. They had no formal education. Apparently people are mentioning education so as to be able to blame governments,esp civilian ones.

I find it immensely satisfying that people stealing petrol from these tankers,in spite of knowing the dangers involved, have such firm belief in the Almighty that death will only come at the predetermined time, and in a manner as decided by the Almighty.

This style of tanker truck may have a problem with it's center of gravity and its wheel base when fulled loaded.

@haider shaikh I think EVERY ONE saw what happened at Ahmedpur Sharqia. You don't need education for this. Those who died there are unfortunate ones but these are intentionally getting into death trap.

@Ahtasham you are contradicting your own statement! We will act civilised if we are educated. And it IS the government's job to establish educational institutions that provide quality education to all. Hence, it is the government's fault that people act like this.

This is theft. Instead of helping set the tanker right, instead of calling for help, the people rush out to loot,loot and loot.

@haider shaikh Sorry sir, I disagree. Educating the masses and building metros to facilitate the urban population are two important factors for economic and societal development. You cannot supersede education of village people over transportation infrastructure development in any way. Even the economic impact will be many times greater from infrastructure development versus educated villagers. You will know the effect when you will have to pay 3-4 times more for food stuffs and can only afford a single banana once in a blue moon. Yes, that's how developed countries are, as everyone is educated, they want to improve their living standard. For example in South Korea, a banana costs about 400 PKR! Let alone food items, think paying over 50k to a servant or a guard which nowadays you only pay 10k or so. People in developed nations earning over $200,000/year can't afford a servant! In light of all this, we are not ready as a nation to accept educated villagers.

I totally agree with nomi gorayya we cannot put the entire responsibility on the government shoulder,it is the responsibility of the to understand what the are go to do.

People are unaware of the result

The people should be punished not just for theft but putting others lives in danger. Sometimes education doesn't come from schools or books but from punitive action.

Another case of Vehari of oil tanker slippage shows that there are no traffic tules,no traffic checks on highways. Overspeeding and drug pills taking by drivers while drive is very common on highways. People still rushing to collect the free fuel in buckets and drums even after such a big tragedy of Ahmedpur. We need to educate our people and to emphasize the government departments officers and staff to wake up and to earn atleast some percent of Halal food and living for their children by fullfilling their duties and responsibilities.

Poverty is the main reason. Education, education and common sense are the others. This may happen in any poor country. What government can do is faster security system in case of any such accident. Nothing more.
