The Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights on Tuesday approved the Child Protection Bill 2017 which will prevent children under the age of 18 from working.
Under the new bill, which was approved during a session of the committee chaired by PML-N MNA Babar Nawaz, parents will be restricted from making their children beg on the streets.
A new welfare fund will also be set up and orphaned children will be registered. The operations of institutions working for child protection will be appraised and child protection officers will be appointed under the bill.
There are 13,000 street children in Islamabad, Director General Ministry of Human Rights Mohammad Hassan Mangi told DawnNews.

while it is good action 'prevent children under the age of 18 from working' can not really work unless welfare fund expands from just orphaned and street children . However these are the most deprived of our society so good beginning.

First the primary school system has to be improved as well as skill training.Even after 5 years of schooling 84 % of children in government schools cannot read and write due to automatic promotion and no efforts by teachers to teach EVERY child, therefore their parents let them learn a job to keep them off the drugs and streets while they still 12 years old.

In the USA young people can work legally at the age of 14. If they get a social security card they can earn a pay check and not be exploited. An 18 year old is not a child !! An 18 year old in the US can join the military and vote. That legislation is overkill.
