Brawl over no-trust motion

Published August 9, 2003

HANGU, Aug 8: Various councillors and officials were injured when supporters of the Hangu Town Nazim clashed with opposition members during a meeting of Town-1 here on Thursday.

Both parties have got FIRs registered against each other at a local police station.

Sources said that the incident occurred when, during the meeting which was discussing the annual development programme, opposition members tried to table a no-confidence motion against Town Nazim Mohammad Daud and Naib Nazim Nizam Ali.

The brawl broke out when Kotaki UC Nazim Mohammad Sadiq announced tabling of the no-confidence motion against the Nazim and the Naib Nazim during the meeting. The Nazims were of the view that the opposition could not table a no-trust motion at the ADP meeting.

This caused an uproar and supporters of Town Nazim and opposition councillors scuffled and resorted to brick pelting.
