SHIKARPUR, Aug 8: Six dacoits attacked the Shaheed Raza Mohammad police picket, which is situated on a section of the Kandhkot-Shikarpur road, late Thursday night and killed Head Constable Naseer Ahmed Rind of the Sindh Reserve Police, on deputation at Shikarpur, and Constable Anwar Ali Sanjrani of the Naparkot police station.

The gang of dacoits attacked the police picket. After a heavy exchange of fire, the dacoits took control of the picket and killed the head constable and constable on duty.

The dacoits stole a semi-automatic rifle, a G-3 rifle and 1,000 rounds from the picket.

Soon after the incident, a heavy contingent of police, led by the DPO, Shikarpur, Abdul Khaliq Shaikh, went in search of the dacoits. They have cordoned off the Teghani village in the katcha area suspecting that the dacoits were hiding there.

OUR SUKKUR CORRESPONDENT ADDS: The DPO, Shikarpur, Abdul Khaliq Shaikh, told this correspondent on the telephone that dacoit Karim Dad Teghani and his accomplices were involved in attacking the police post.

He said three members of the gang were arrested by the Napar police a few days ago.
