Team Green

Published June 26, 2017

I WOULD like to thank Michael Kugelman for his beautiful piece, “Ode to Team Green” (June 21). It was a delight to read and helped me recall the many helpful and friendly people I’d met in America. Such efforts help foster understanding and friendship of which the world is in dire need.

On the other hand, I was greatly pained to read about the travail of Otto Warmbier, the 22-year-old American student who had been arrested in North Korea and tortured, being finally returned to the United States while in a coma recently, where he died six days later surrounded by relatives. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

A youth’s life is curtailed / To let somebody’s ego prevail.

The tears of blood that his loved ones weep / Matter no more than water flowing down their cheeks.
