Chairman Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman announced the sighting of the moon for the month of Shawwal on Sunday and said that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday.
The announcement was made by Mufti Muneeb after chairing a meeting of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee.
The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee had convened the meeting to sight the moon for Eidul Fitr in Islamabad, whereas zonal bodies of the committee also met in Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar and Lahore.

I do wish this long winded man could be taught to get to the point without wasting thousands of man hours among the viewers. Very inconsiderate and boorish behaviour on his part every year.
The man should have been sacked a long time ago.

A moment of silence for those who celebrated today when there was no astronomical possibility. Government should take tough stance on those dividing the nation at Eid.

All these people still looking for moon to celebrate eid, there are many people visited moon since Eid started centuries ago. They have to Fix a date to celebrate Eid, 30 days of Ramadan and followed by EID or the Day they celebrate in Saudi Arabia, save the Muslim nation from moon controversy. What a shame you cannot even celebrate your biggest festival in unity.

We should stop this dependency of "Crescent Visiblity" , and create a standard Islamic calendar using scientific calculations.

When Muftiji is OK to use technology like binoculars, why not use satellite and accurately predict moon sigting months before?

Seeing people watching moon through telescope seems so backward. Technology has taken so much forward and we still have these bunch of people decide the Eid day.
