ISLAMABAD, Aug 7: Indian High Commissioner-designate Shivnarayan Menon will present his credentials to President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Saturday, foreign ministry spokesman Masood Khan said on Thursday.

Sources said the ceremony for the presentation of credentials was delayed due to the president’s busy schedule.

According to the sources, there is no substance in the suggestion that the government was delaying the presentation of credentials by Mr Menon on purpose.

They said there was no advantage to be derived from delaying this ceremony as Pakistan had been eagerly awaiting the exchange of high commissioners of full ranks as soon as possible. This, in order to pave the way for substantive and meaningful diplomatic exchanges so that important matters, pending for a long time, are addressed.
