LAHORE: The Punjab University held on Friday the meeting of the selection board despite a stay order from a civil court.

Presided over by provisional Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Zafar Moeen Nasir, the meeting was held for the recruitment of the deputy registrar, deputy controller and deputy treasurer.

A varsity official told Dawn that civil court had issued stay order restraining the PU administration from convening the meeting of the selection board. Under the rules, he said, a provisional VC could not preside over such a meeting.

A PU spokesman said the civil court had allowed the administration to hold the meeting of the selection board as per rules. He said that the agenda of the selection board had also been circulated well in time.
