BAHAWALPUR, Aug 7: A Clifton police party raided a number of places in Bahawalpur and Uch Sharif on Thursday in search of two suspects involved in a dacoity in the house of a VIP personality in Karachi.

It is learnt that Shahid and Tariq are wanted in connection with a dacoity in the house of the sister of VVIP in Karachi. But local police officials have refused to comment.

On a tip off, the Karachi police conducted raids in Bahawalpur and Uch Sharif, but failed to arrest Shahid. However, Amjad was taken into custody.

CASE REGISTERED: Musafirkhana police on Thursday registered a case against 12 consumers for making hostage the members of a Mepco team in Basti Goth Mehrab near here.

According to an FIR lodged by SDO Salim, a number of consumers attacked the team when it was checking meters.

No arrest has so far been made by the police.

RECOMMENDATION: The district council on Thursday recommended to the Punjab government to pay honorarium to minority members of the district and tehsil councils.

A resolution in this regard moved by minority member Lala Mahar Lal Bheel was unanimously adopted by the house.
