ISLAMABAD, Aug 7: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has approved a Rs19 million project for establishment of a computer networking and telecommunication infrastructure at the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi.

Under the project, that would be completed in one year, access to the world’s major journals and data bases will be provided to the students of the institution, said an official statement.

An information technology highway would be established through the internet facility to connect the IBA students with the rest of the academic world. Thus the students and the faculty members of the IBA would be provided access to international journals of economics, finance, business administration and other related disciplines.

The project would not only enhance the research capabilities of the students/faculty through this facility but also increase the standard of computer laboratories and libraries.

It will in turn boost the quality of education of IBA students and productivity of all faculty and staff concerned.

The main objective of the project is to have a modern networking infrastructure comprising state-of-the-art hardware and enterprise software that would allow quality education to be imparted to the students.
