ISLAMABAD: The police on Thursday distributed pamphlets seeking help and cooperation from citizens in order to curb criminal activity, particularly during the Eid holidays.

The pamphlets were distributed among people and at homes, and asked people to play their role in curbing crime.

Compiled by Superintendent of Police (City) Zubair Ahmed and available with Dawn, the pamphlet asks that people travelling out of the city to celebrate Eid should ensure that the lights at their house gates remain on.

Proper security arrangements should be made in streets, and gates should be locked from the inside as gates locked from the outside give the message that no one is in the house.

The pamphlet claims that although the police have made security arrangements to protect the lives and property of residents, people’s cooperation is also required.

People have also been asked not to leave gold, jewellery, cash and other valuables, and have been advised to lock every room in the house as it would take longer for thieves to break the locks in this case.

People have also been advised to tell hawkers not to drop off newspapers in their absence, since this also indicates that the house’s residents are not home.

The pamphlet also suggests that people leaving their homes for Eid inform the police and submit their domestic employees’ bio-data and CNICs to the police station.
