HYDERABAD: A meeting of the District Hockey Association (DHA), Hyderabad was held here on Sunday under the chairmanship of DHA president Zafar Saeed Rajput.

It was attended by office-bearers of the association apart from secretaries of registered clubs who urged Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) to take notice of what they called biased decisions of Sindh Hockey Association (SHA) secretary Ramzan Jamali.

The meeting severely criticised SHA secretary’s decision to deny participation to the DHA, Hyderabad in the All Sindh Hockey Championship being held in Sukkur.

Addressing the meeting, the DHA secretary said that the Hyderabad team whose players’ names were reported in the press had nothing to do with DHA, Hyderabad, stating “these were players of just one club and this team was formed under directives of SHA secretary Ramzan.”

Terming it a fake team, the DHA secretary said that it was tantamount to trampling over rights of genuine Hyderabad players.

DHA president also condemned what her termed anti-Hyderabad initiatives of PHF representative Aslam Khan Niazi, stating Niazi was “misusing his position for personal gains while hardly paying any genuine attention to the game of hockey.”

DHA office-bearers appealed to the PHF president to take notice of policies of Niazi and SHA secretary Ramzan who, they said, were involved in practices harming the game of hockey.
