PEKING: Hundreds of Chinese staged an angry demonstration outside the Indian Embassy here last night [June 12] after China had accused the Indian Press attaché Raghunath of spying.

The Embassy was smothered with slogans condemning “Indian reactionaries”. Floodlights were trained on the gates and hundreds of demonstrators backed by loudspeakers kept up a constant barrage of slogans at the diplomats inside during the demonstration. Raghunath, who has been deprived of diplomatic status and seems to be threatened with arrest, is at present in the Indian Embassy.

Second Secretary K. Raghunath recently penetrated part of the western suburbs of Peking where he surreptitiously surveyed and took photographs of a prohibited military area and carried out espionage activities. He was caught red-handed by soldiers of the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army. The evidence shows that K. Raghunath is an out and out spy under the cloak of a diplomat and a stooge serving imperialism and the reactionaries.

The capture of this Indian Embassy spy in China once again shows that no monsters or demons who dare to carry out espionage activities in China can possibly elude the vigilant grasp of the Chinese people who are in the midst of the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution. — [Chinese news agencies and others]
