SRINAGAR, Aug 5: A helicopter crashed early on Tuesday near Srinagar, killing four Hindu pilgrims and the pilot and injuring another pilgrim, police said.

The helicopter, owned by the state government, crashed at Ganderbal, 25 kilometres from Srinagar.

The devotees, including two couples, were on their way to join the Amarnath pilgrimage south of Srinagar when the accident occurred. The condition of the injured pilgrim, Ajay Bindal, was said to be critical.—AFP
