ABBOTTABAD, Aug 5: Lawyers on Monday called for setting up a full-time special anti-corruption court for hearing cases from areas comprising the now defunct Hazara division.

The demand for the establishment of the court was made in a joint memorandum sent to the provincial government by lawyers and people, specially government servants, whose cases were pending in the court of the special judge anti-corruption in Peshawar.

They said that they had to visit Peshawar for at least a day or two every month, adding that they had to endure a long wait because of the large number of pending cases there.

They said that the general public had to move to Peshawar and other stations for bail and other such matters which cost them more, causing them considerable financial problems.

A special anti-corruption court has already been established by the government at Abbottabad but selected cases are forwarded for hearing.

Lawyers, in their memorandum, called for transferring all cases to the special court, which was functioning with a limited jurisdiction.
