There is still one week to Father’s Day and you have ample time to think about the present you want to buy or create for your dad in the coming days. In the meantime you can make an easy yet elegant card to surprise your dad. The card can easily be made with most of the things easily available to you; you just need to ask your mum to give you two buttons.

Things you need:

  1. Two coloured papers (of your choice) (one A4 sized the other four-inch wide four-inch length (a square-shaped)

  2. Glue stick or liquid glue

  3. Two buttons (small-sized)

  4. Scissors

  5. Two crayons (optional: if you want to make the patterned tie)

Note: the card is made in two parts, a shirt and tie.

Directions:

  1. Fold the A4 sized paper horizontally about one inch and make a crease, see picture 2.

  2. Now two-fold this A4-sized paper to give it a card look; picture 3.

  3. Cut the one-inch crease about half the size of A4. Leave the other half as in pictures 4 and 5.

  4. Carefully cut the remaining of the crease about one-inch from both sides as in picture 6, the centre should not be cut.

  5. Fold the sides diagonally, picture 7 (these are collars of the shirt).

  6. The first part of the card is ready. It’s time to make the tie.

  7. Take the other square-shaped coloured paper and place it diagonally. Fold from corners making a diamond shape as in picture 8 (this is the back of the tie).

  8. From the top corner, fold it downwards for one and half inch; picture 9.

  9. Fold one centimetre backwards as in picture 10 (towards the front of tie).

  10. Remember you are doing most steps at the back of tie; now fold both the sides (right and left) towards each other as in picture 11.

  11. The back and front of the tie should look like the one in pictures 12 and 13. The tie is ready.

  12. Coming back to the shirt. Put a dot of glue in the centre of the shirt collars, picture 14 and paste the tie.

  13. Paste buttons on both the collars picture 15.

  14. You can make patterns of your choice on the tie. Picture 16.

Your personalised Father’s Day card is ready!
