LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Monday urged the Ministry of Water and Power to exempt poultry sector from load shedding.

“Poultry farmers, hatchery owners and poultry processing plant owners are suffering huge losses due to heavy loadshedding, which lasts from 10 hours in one go from 6pm to 4am,” LCCI President Abdul Basit in a statement after meeting a delegation of the poultry industry.

“The poultry association is collaborating with the government to supply chicken products in Ramazan Bazaars at rates which are less than the market price,” the LCCI office bearer said.

“If all the birds die because of load shedding, how will the general public get any benefit? People attached to this industry have been bearing huge loss,” he maintained.
