A Shangla woman on Saturday confessed to killing her husband for allegedly raping their daughter-in-law, police said.
According to Alpuri Headquarters' Deputy Superintendent of Police Amjad Ali Khan, a man was shot dead on Thursday. His wife admitted to killing him during a police interrogation.
During the murder investigation, the man's wife had alleged that he repeatedly raped their daughter-in-law, the DSP said.
"About nine months ago, our son got married. Later my husband started to irritate our daughter-in-law and raped her repeatedly," the woman alleged in her confessional statement.
During her confession she added, "I decided to kill him when he did not leave his bad habit."
The woman confessed that she, with her daughter-in-law's help, shot her husband while he slept at night, the DSP said.
According to the DSP, the interrogation was carried out under the directives of District Police Officer Rahatullah Khan, who had directed that strict action be taken against everyone involved in the case.
Subsequently, a case was lodged against the accused under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code and the court has sent the woman, and her son and daughter-in-law to jail.

The question to ask is, would the man have faced a timely punishment for actually raping his daughter-in-law, that would actually deter him from doing so ever again?
What actually is the punishment for rape in Pakistan? A genuine question..

The question should not be on the homicide, but on the criminalisation of the whole society where father in law repeatedly rapes daughter in law. It is appearing that the biggest crime in our society is taking birth as a girl. What is making our women a piece of flesh, a good for use and throw, and a war booty. !!! We need to look into the mirror..right now.

In a society where every ill is a norm of the rich and powerful, such extreme actions by the perennially dejected and helpless are the natural outcome as their last resort. fault lies in the law not taking its right course at right time.

What made them do this knowing the consequences? They knew the state cant provide them protection. There is a reason why people don't trust the state's institutions and take matters into their own hands. And not to forget how heinous the crime here is. Rape on one side and murder on the other. Sad state of affairs.

@M.Saeed Don't blame every crime on rich and powerful . Even we don't know if he really did the crime. Why didn't she made complain against the person.Now he is dead,it hard to find the actual truth. Not Going through proper channel is our society and every one break the law.

If this is what happened, then I'm sure the two women were finding themselves helpless in the situation driving them to take matters in their own hand. Our police had been found ineffective in helping people of domestic abuse.

If law would have been implemented strictly it would not have happened. The deceased would have been punished for rape, if the his wife was aware of laws. But a question rises do we have laws for such crime?

The only way to stop all this is education and while our kids grow tratingbour boys and girls equally. They should have got him arrested thr very first time he did that. His daughter in law should have complained the only reason the girls go through all this is becuase of social stigma. If we educate our daughters theybwill stand against these evils. Time for us to send our kids to real schools for education and not Madrassas.

@AM I do agree that there is discrimination against women in our society, but this act of raping daughter in law is an act of an individual person , which is no were accepted in our society.
We should not blame all crimes to our society. There are still some values prevailing.

They acted in self-defense (daughter-in-law) and defense of others (wife), which should lead a court to acquit them. At the least, they acted under great provocation and heat of passion, and a court should find them guilty of no more than voluntary manslaughter.
The courts and police have failed to defend the victims in rape cases. Had the victims trusted the courts and police, they would not have been compelled to defend themselves.

Here is the case of "HONOR KILLING" in its true and real sense! Both these women; mother in law and daughter in law acted or rather reacted to protect and preserve feminine honor asalso family' s honor!
In either of the situations, they would have had to go through legal procedure, and they opted for the final one in order to bring an end to further continuation of such an unethical act of rapping an innocent and respectable person having been brought into family by virtue of Nikah Nama!
I think both these women had right within the norms of Moral, Legal and Social Justice to protect self-respect, dignity and honor!

Why imprison here and the daughter in law?
They should be paid the salaries that are being wasted on useless law makers, a police force that doesn't do the job and the justice department that mocks the law. Give them medals, give them money and build statues and issue postage stamps in their honor.

A bigger question is what was the son doing all this time? For 9 months his wife was being abused by his own father? Doesn't make sense...and the woman could not go to her parents? Surely she knew this was wrong? Something is going wrong..
