ABBOTTABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday ruled out the possibility of his disqualification from holding public offices by the Supreme Court in the asset concealment case.

Inaugurating the Nambal power project in Bakot village here, the PTI chief said he had brought to the country all what he’d earned abroad unlike others, who had taken away money from the country and therefore, how he could be disqualified from holding public office.

In an obvious reference to the ruling Sharif family’s members, the PTI chief said for the first time, those, who had shifted the looted national wealth abroad, were under investigation. He said he was hopeful that the country would get back its looted money.

Mr Imran said the Sharifs had never honoured the laws and had always tried to influence people against them by use of force or money.

“Ensuring the accountability of Sharif family is a big achievement of the PTI. They (Sharifs) will face the music for corruption,” he said.

The PTI chief said the people had woken up to identify the plunderers of national wealth.

“The people will reject in elections all those, who have fixed their respective terms to rule the country. They have seen their real faces and want a real change, which can happen through the PTI only,” he said.

Mr Imran said the people had voted all political leaders to power many times but they all cheated them and failed to deliver.

He lashed out at the federal government over the ongoing power crisis and the PTI government had executed several power projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa promising the production of the lowest possible electricity rate.

“We will generate the cheapest electricity through hydel power projects, while the federal government is producing costly electricity using coal and other resources,” he said.

The PTI chief said the provincial government had planned to electrify all villages and far-flung areas of the province.

He said most power projects planned for the province would be successfully executed in the next year and that the number of local power units would go up to 1,000.

Mr Imran said the provincial government had successfully completed work on 180 of the 356 small hydel power projects and had planned to start work on the 2000 megawatts power projects.

He added that 15 power projects had been successfully executed in different parts of Hazara division.

The PTI chief was accompanied by energy and power minister Mohammad Atif Khan, PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen and Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation chief executive Akbar Ayub.

The Pedo chief executive said the Nambal power plant would provide electricity to 180 houses, two schools, one hospital, two mosques and three hotels without interruption.
