KARACHI: Despite a brilliant century by Sami-ur-Rehman, Agha Estates could not prevent losing the opening fixture of the fourth Naya Nazimabad Karachi Kings Ramazan Cup against K-Electric at the Lawai Cricket Stadium late on Tuesday night.

Batting first, Agha Estates posted a competitive 171-5 in the allotted 20 overs. The highlight being the wonderful batting of Sami, who hit seven sixes and five boundaries in a 59-ball knock. Fawad Khan struck four fours and three sixes in his rapid innings of 47.

Khushdil Shah played a key role in K-Electric’s triumph with a superb 66 from 39 deliveries as his side won three balls to spare. He voted man-of-the-match for his grand effort. Usman Khan made quickfire 30 off 19 balls and Hassaan Khan made 23.

Zeeshan Khan grabbed two wickets for 30 runs.

Earlier the event was inaugurated at a simple but impressive ceremony by chief guest Tayyab Tareen, chief executive of K-Electric. Also present were Arif Habib, chairman of Arif Habib Group, Abdul Samad Habib, chief executive of Javedan Corporation Limited and Ahmer Rizvi.

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines are defending their title in the 12-team competition. The winners will take away Rs1 million.
