The monarch of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, King Salman, has apologised to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other leaders of Muslim countries for not presenting them with a chance to address the US-Arab-Islamic Summit, said the Foreign Office (FO).
The leaders of the Muslim world could not address the summit due to the shortage of time, said FO Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria at the weekly briefing.
"Due to the shortage of time, leaders of 30 countries could not address the summit and King Salman has apologised to all the attendees for it," said Zakaria.
Referring to the recent award given to an Indian army officer, who used a Kashmiri youth as a human shield, the FO said it is "a crime and an insult to humanity".
"This is not the first time that the Indian occupation forces have displayed such cowardice and inhumanity," said the spokesperson.
The prime minister had attended the first-ever Arab-Islamic-American Summit in Riyadh on Sunday, where he interacted with Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, US President Donald Trump and other leaders from Arab and Islamic countries.
Nawaz visited Saudi Arabia on May 21 to participate in the summit and was received by Governor of Riaydh Prince Faisal Bin Bandar Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and senior officials.
The premier was accompanied by his Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, First Lady Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, his son Hussain Nawaz and Advocate Akram Sheikh.
In addition to King Salman and US President Donald Trump, 55 heads of state and government from the Muslim world had been invited to participate in the summit.

It is not whether Nawaz Sharif had a chance to speak at the conference or not. The question is whether Donald Trump was willing to spend 2 more minutes listening to our dear Prime Minister. Just flying to Saudi Arabia to listen to Donald Trump is probably not a good enough reason to spend the sort of money taxpayers would have spent on that trip. I bet it was a hastily arranged trip by our PM and not sure how many Pakistanis would have experienced delays/cancellations of their flights.

This apology is an indirect message that money is more important that interests of other muslim countries. If the Saudi monarch was so genuinely concerned about interests of other muslim countries he would have not put in efforts to isolate Iran. This is all politics, and has nothing to do with personal friendships and religion. Money is the driving force. Let's see what happens to the arrogance of Saudis when demand for oil dips significantly all across the globe.

Very sad to see the Muslim world not showing enough self respect regarding the whole sorry farce of a visit. A man who ran for office abusing Muslims and Islam is invited to visit the land most holy to Muslims all over the globe. Far from apologising for his disgraceful remarks, he offers patronising advice to Muslims on fighting terrorism. Not a word about the thousands (virtually all Muslims) in countries like Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan who have laid down their very lives doing exactly this. Some fifty odd leaders from Muslim countries see nothing wrong in paying obseiance at this court, not to mention supporting the campaign against a fellow Muslim nation.
I have absolutely no respect for the Hindu fanatics who are working overtime to destroy Indian nationhood. However, let me assure you, if someone had insulted Indians or Hindus the way Mr. Trump did, and then received this sort of fawning treatment from the Indian goverment, they would have ensured the fall of that goverment.

You can't blame the King. They are in power and continue to be in power because of protection from the West.
Remember the Gulf war? To save one monarchy, thousands and thousands of Iraqis lost their lives and Iraq still has not recovered.

It's no apology to Nawaz specifically but general letter to all participating nations not invited to speak at this important forum, Pakistan is one of the participants.
Humiliation was not inviting Nawaz to speak who have gone with strong contingent and speech ready in his pocket but refusal of US President to meet him despite lots of diplomatic efforts since months. Pakistan ha to shun harboring terrorism to stand with World Otherwise more such humiliation bound to happen

Just a lame excuse. They needed all those 'Islamic states' representatives' to create the impression that the (non-existent) 'ummah' is with them. It was simply a Saudi-American summit by which the Saudis wanted to show that they (SA and USA) have a common enemy in Iran. Trump used it as an opportunity to grab $380 billion contracts! NS, by going there and keeping mum at the American-Saudi rhetoric against Iran, has caused further damage to Iran-Pakistan relations. A gross mistake, a short-sighted policy and a blow to our national interests.

No let's not get mixed up . Trump is highly egoistic and childish . It sometimes appears to me that he is better off as Trump rather than The President of the USA . Even our Nawaz Sahab and Narendra Modi are more 'In-Depth' than him . Pakistan has been played around with by the Russians , US and now China where India refrained . Brothers please wake up and build your children up by educating them . I was taken aback by a Pakistani pupil once 8 yrs back by his level of Intellectual . There is a lot of potential in our region . Let's get our children back on track to take the world by a tsunami of intellect .

The point is not if Pakistan PM and other 29 countries' heads of the state and of government were not invited to speak because of the time shortage, but which countries' PMs and Presidents were allowed. I saw King of Jordan speaking at the summit. Is Jordan more important than Pakistan in the Islamic world ?

Agree 100%. King could probably see how much pressure NS is back home and in any case was unlikely to say anything in his speech following what the King and Trump had said about Iran. So the so called snub might have been a blessing disguise.under the circumstances meeting Trump on sidelines would have served no purpose although it was diplomatic necessity to attend the meeting. I am amazed some of the analysis have not appreciated NS' move of rigging out of speeches which were only meant to target Iran.

....Let us be good to our Prime Minister and give him some credit. Having assistance from official and non-official advisors is not a bad idea, particularly when he does not have a foreign minister. The reason why he has not appointed a FM is a separate debate which partly reflect voluntary working in tendam with our military leadership thanks to the hostile neighbourhood.
