39 cops penalized

HANGU, Jan 3: Police in Hangu have launched a crackdown against anti-social elements and disciplinary action has been taken against 39 cops, Hangu SP Mohammad Idrees told a news conference.

“A crackdown has been launched against anti-social elements and  corrupt police officials,” Mr Idrees said.

He said that 39 officials had been penalised for irregularities. He warned that strict action would taken against police officials involved in corruption or failing to come up to the expectations of the people.

He said 10 officials had been given commendation certificates for good performance. He said 23 Kalashnikovs, 10 rifles, 39 pistols and 1088 rounds had been seized and 16 proclaimed offenders had been captured.
