PARACHINAR: Two Frontier Corps soldiers were injured in firing by Afghan border security forces on a check-post in Kurram Agency on Friday.

Officials said that Pakistani troops were building a protection wall near the Gowanda post as part of the border management plan when the Afghan forces opened fire.

Two soldiers, Luqman Haider and Suleiman, were injured. They were taken to a hospital in the area. In a separate development, Kurram Levies and Frontier Corps in a joint action destroyed an explosives-laden vehicle coming from Afghanistan. An official told Dawn that the vehicle was approaching Borki, a border village west of Parachinar, when security personnel opened fire. The vehicle loaded with explosives was blown up.

All four check-posts on the border with Afghanistan in Kurram Agency, including Borki, have been shut since Feb 26.
