PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz provincial president Engr Amir Muqam has accused the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led provincial government of stopping the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission from proceeding against the party leaders facing corruption charges.

This he stated while speaking at a public meeting at Malik Tehmash Khan Stadium here on Friday.

On the occasion, Hidayatullah Afridi, brother of former provincial minister and MPA Ziaullah Afridi, joined the PML-N.

Capt retired Safdar, son-in-law of prime minister, and PML-N provincial general secretary Murtaza Javed Abbasi also spoke on the occasion.

Mr Muqam, who is also adviser to the prime minister, alleged that the provincial government had failed to come up to the expectations of people.

He said during 2013 general elections Imran Khan had got 98,000 votes in Peshawar, but he had disappointed his voters. He argued that people were worried because PTI had no concrete plan for their development.

Mr Muqam insisted that Imran always opposed the foreign loans but now his own government in KP was seeking loans from international financial organisations.

The PML-N leader condemned the suicide bombing on a convoy of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F leader and Senate Deputy Chairman Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri in Quetta and described it a cowardly act on part of the perpetrators.

The PM’s adviser announced that a 40-MVA power transformer would be installed in the Peshawar city’s grid station to overcome overloading of the grid.

He also promised to unblock all the blocked computerised national identity cards in the provincial capital.

About the low pressure of natural gas, he said under a new gas supply plan from Kohat to Peshawar the issue would be resolved.

Mr Muqam also came down hard on ANP and PPP for what he said failing to deliver in their respective tenures in the government.

On the occasion, Mr Safdar said Imran Khan should realise that there was no chance for him to become prime minister in future.

“PML-N will again come to power after the 2018 general elections as the nation has nothing to do with the baseless allegations leveled by Imran Khan against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his team members,” he said.
