KARACHI, Aug 2: Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar on Saturday has asked the provincial and district government authorities, particularly DCOs and EDOs (health), to make vigorous efforts to cope with the situation arising out of the heavy rains in the province.

Addressing a high level meeting, the CM called for all necessary arrangements, specially for the shifting of stranded people of Badin and Thatta districts, to safer places through boats. He also stressed on provision of food, cloths, tents and medical facilities to the displaced people.

Mr Mahar pointed out that relief funds have already been provided to district governments whereas more funds would be made available to cater to their needs. However, he stressed the need for a more active role of the district administrations in this human cause and rescue operations.

The CM maintained that the government was paying due attention to the safety and security of people’s life and property. He said that he would again visit the affected areas of Thatta and Badin districts shortly to review the relief work being carried out by the government. He warned that no slackness on part of officials would be tolerated.

He said that President Musharraf would also undertake a visit to the affected areas soon.
