NOWSHERA: A man killed his wife for ‘honour’ here at Qamar Mella area on Thursday.

Police sources said that the victim woman had tied the knot with Imtiaz Gul of Jaroba about four months ago through court marriage. Soon after the incident, a raiding party led by DSP Akora Khattak circle Adnan Azam and SHO Nizampur was tasked to arrest the suspect.

The police arrested Gul and also claimed to have recovered a pistol from him. According to the police, Gul confessed during preliminary investigations that he had killed his wife on suspicion of her having relations with another person. The body was brought to the district headquarters hospital, Nowshera, for autopsy and later handed over to her relatives.

Meanwhile, a police darbar was held at Nowshera police headquarters which was attended by SP investigation, DSPs and SHOs. Speaking on the occasion, DPO Wahid Mehmood said that anti-social elements had changed their strategy for creating disturbance in society. He asked the police officers to take elected representatives, ulema and influential people into confidence to thwart designs of miscreants.
