The Foreign Office (FO) on Thursday announced that it would take up the matter of the return of Pakistani students and teachers visiting India through diplomatic channels.
A group of 50 Pakistani students and teachers who were visiting India at the invitation of an non-governmental office were sent back from India a day earlier after receiving threats from Hindu extremist organisation Shiv Sena.
Dehli-based NGO Routes2Roots had invited the Pakistani students as part of their student "Exchange for Change" Programme.
Keeping in view the safety of the students, Indian officials had advised the NGO to send the students back and termed the current situation ‘unfavourable’ for an exchange programme. They escorted the students to the Wagah border amid tight security.
FO Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria today said, "In India, growing incidents of intolerance, extremism and terrorism have attracted the world's attention... India's hostile policy towards Pakistan, and persecution of religious minorities including Muslims, Christians and others within India have been noted by the International community with concern."
"Hindu extremist organisations are involved while the government is watching as a silent spectator," he claimed.
Talking about taking the matter up with India, Zakaria assured that "Pakistan always raises its concerns wherever warranted."

This is a grave failure of our intelligence agencies not taking due precautions in allowing student's delegation to visit India, knowing well how they behave. If even the goods from Pakistan at an exhibition in Mumbai were thrown out and trampled in hate, how could they allow students' visit?

At present situation India does not allow any Pakistanis to visit here. Even Pakistan wrestling team was denied VISA by indian govt. Forget Shiv sena threat , Earlier also they posed threat hundreds of times .

Pakistan's FO Spokesperson Mr. Nafees Zakaria is a dynamic and graceful person. I met him here in Toronto - Canada when he was Pakistani consulate general. As usual Pakistani Consulate staff (which are mostly posted based on political affiliation or quota system) tried to prolong the process of passport renewal. Mr. Nafees Zakaria, came to me and resolved my issue right there. He also instructed his staff member to bring the renewed passport to his room and advice me to collect my passport from his office directly.....Its a pleasant surprise that this corrupt PML-N government has some competent folks...

@M. Emad: Pakistan awards thousands of scholarships annually to Afghan students studying in Pakistani universities. Incidentally, many Afghan students studying in Peshawar universities get double scholarships, one each from Afghan and Pakistani Governments and live like princes in the university hostels.
