KARACHI, Aug 1: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal has urged the president and the prime minister to direct the cantonment boards, the DHA, the KPT, railways and other federal institutions, which control a bit less than half of Karachi, to come to the aid to the city government for improving the infrastructure demolished by the rains.

MMA Karachi President Hafiz Mohammad Taqi said all the above federal institutions were taking an advantage of the infrastructure built-up by the defunct KMC.

He also appealed to the Sindh chief minister that in view of increasing population of Karachi, instead of putting all its burden on the city government he should use his influence to provide financial resources from the federal institutions to the city government.
