DERA MURAD JAMALI: A student of Class-III on Friday lost his life reportedly because of corporal punishment by his teacher. Syed Nazar Shah, the teacher, was taken into custody.

Ten-year-old Amanullah Solangi went to Government Primary School in Shah Baig village of Nasirabad district. According to sources, he was subjected to severe beating by Mr Shah over some mistake. The boy was taken to hospital where he died. The medics confirmed Solangi had serious wounds on his body.

Villagers placed the body on the main Quetta-Sukkur Highway and held a protest against the teacher. They raised slogans and demanded the teacher’s arrest. Traffic remained disrupted for quite some time.

The protest was called off after the local administration assured the grieving family that action would be taken against the teacher and school.
