The Federal Investigation Agency on Friday arrested a National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) employee for issuing Computerised National Identity Cards (CNIC) to foreigners in Balochistan.

Two other individual, acting as agents, were also arrested by the agency.

“A raid was conducted in the Kuchlak area and an agent, involved in bribing Nadra officials, was arrested,” said Deputy Director FIA Rizwan Aslam, adding the bribes aided foreign nationals in obtaining CNICs.

The official added that Azan Akhtar, a Nadra official, was also arrested following the arrest of the two agents.

The FIA team recovered fake stamps and documents used in preparation of CNICs during the raids conducted.

Aslam claimed that the accused were involved in issuing hundreds of CNICs to foreigners, especially Afghan refugees.

Further raids are being conducted to arrest others involved in the scam.
