Five terrorists were killed and 11 apprehended during search and intelligence-based operations carried out in different parts of the country during the last 24 hours, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement released today.

ISPR, the military’s media wing, stated that security forces conducted 29 cordon and search operations and 12 intelligence-based operations in parts of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Fata.

During an intelligence-based operation in the Gawak area of Mand, Balochistan, five terrorists belonging to proscribed organisations were killed. Two FC men were also injured in the operation, which was jointly conducted by the Frontier Corps and intelligence agencies.

In KP, a terrorist plot was foiled by the Frontier Constabulary, which carried out an intelligence-based operation in Bar Qambar Khel, Bara in Khyber agency. During the operation, two terrorists, Shahid and Abdul Raziq, who were planning a major terrorist attack based on foreign directives, were apprehended, the ISPR revealed. A large quantity of explosives was also recovered from the terrorists.

In a separate search operation conducted in Giga Khel, South Waziristan, security forces claimed to have recovered a large amount of explosives.

29 cordon and search operations were also conducted in Punjab during the last 24-hours. Nine terrorists were apprehended during these operations, which were conducted in Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Lodhran, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar and other parts of Punjab, the ISPR statement said.
