PESHAWAR, July 30: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has urged the government to allow the children of Ms Benazir Bhutto to stay in Pakistan as their forcible return to Dubai is a violation of the basic human rights.
In their separate statements, People’s Party Parliamentarians’ MPA Zahir Ali Shah and Arbab Alimgir Khan urged the government to withdraw all the concocted cases against Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto, and allow them to play their political role in the country.
The rulers no longer could keep the genuine political leadership out of the politics, they observed.
They said the government had failed to prove even a single case registered under political consideration against Mr Zardari to get Ms Bhutto to give in to the unconstitutional rulers. The longest detention of Mr Zardari had proved his innocence, they added.
Both the PPP leaders have asked the human rights organisations to put up that with the continuing detention of Mr Zardari, the government was trying to root out the genuine political forces from Pakistan.
They said that despite the formation of a docile and apolitical government, the rulers had failed to solve the socio-economic and political problems of the country. Only political leadership was competent to solve the problems of the country, they added.
They said the PPP had a massive following and it was not easy for the rulers to oust the PPP from the power politics. They urged the rulers to end victimization of the political leadership and allow democracy to flourish in the country.
The existing political system was not workable and it might aggravate the crisis in the country, they added.
