At least three people were killed and six others injured in an armed clash between two groups of the same tribe in Balochistan's Killa Abdullah district on Sunday evening, Levies officials said.

The fight broke out when a jirga was underway to settle a tribal dispute in the Gulistan subdivision of the district. The reason behind the clash could not be immediately determined, the official added.

The son of a tribal elder, Haji Lala Khan Badizai, was also among the dead.

Fellow members of the tribe rushed the injured to Quetta for medical treatment.

Levies personnel, along with officials of other law enforcement agencies, reached the crime scene to patrol the area, suspecting rise in tensions in the aftermath of the clash.

An earlier version of this story mentioned the number of deceased to be four, however, it was later clarified by Levies officials that three people died in the incident. The error is regretted.
