SWABI: Awami National Party leaders on Monday said a modern school and college would be built on the 30 kanal land donated by the people of Zaida city to the Bacha Khan Trust Educational Foundation (BKTEF).

ANP leaders -- former MNA Bushra Gohar and Swabi District Nazim Ameer Rehman – stated this during a visit to the site located at the junction of Shahmansoor village and Zaida city.

Ms Gohar told Dawn on the occasion that BKTEF would build a school and college, which will also have Bacha Khan cultural resource centre, a library, playground, conference hall, guestrooms and handicraft centre. She said technical experts would be assigned the task to finalise the feasibility report and the estimated cost of the project.

Dr Khadim Hussain, managing director of BKTEF, said funds were locally raised for construction of the boundary wall and leveling of the land.

The district nazim said that a big advantage for the students would be that the location is approachable from all sides of the district. He said the local leaders of the party would ensure smooth execution of the project.

It was stated that the school and college would be the second educational institution of BKTEF in the district. A school has been functioning in Jhanda village for last few years.
