A 14-year-old mentally challenged girl was set on fire, and later succumbed to her injuries, in the district of Naushahro Feroze on Monday.

The girl was under treatment in Civil Hospital Naushahro Ferzoe after being set on fire.

Father of the girl claimed that she was sexually assaulted and during the attempted rape the suspects set her on fire when she resisted.

He also accused the doctors for not giving his daughter proper treatment.

“An investigation in to the incident is underway,” said a local police official.

SSP Pervez Ahmad Chandio, the senior police official in the area, also ordered a through probe into the matter.
