MURREE: The Punjab government has taken measures to check prices and quality of food items in Murree and assigned additional powers of price control magistrates to assistant commissioner, tehsildar and naib tehsildar.

On Wednesday, AC Murree visited various areas of the city and imposed a fine of Rs15,000 on profiteers.

Tourists visiting the hill station complain about sale of poor quality food items at exorbitant rates.

According to AC, price control magistrates will daily send reports regarding the prices and quality of food items to the office of commissioner, Rawalpindi.

AC warned traders to display official price lists at their shops and anyone found violating prescribed rates legal action would be taken against him which includes fines and jail.
