LAHORE, July 28: The Law and Parliamentary Affairs Committee on Monday approved increase in the number of standing committees of the Punjab Assembly as well as the strength of each committee.
However, it rejected the bill meant for provision of new vehicles to the speaker and the deputy speaker and allowing two phone lines to the opposition leader because the Punjab governor had expressed reservations about the bill.
The bill would now be sent to the chief minister who would talk to the governor for presenting it before the committee as an amended bill.
Earlier, MPA from Pakpattan Mian Javed was elected chairman of the committee.
