PESHAWAR, July 28: Inspector-General of Police Riffat Pasha has directed all the police high-ups to ensure courtesy and respect to the complainants and eliminate ‘thana culture’ in the province.

These directives were issued to all the DIGs and DPOs in a special circular issued from the central police office (CPO) on Monday after it received many complaints against the rude behaviour and high-handedness by the officials in police stations, said a press release.

The IGP strictly directed the police high-ups to discourage such practices in police stations under their command and warned that if any complaint about police high-handedness and rude behaviour was received, the responsible SHO would be taken to task.

The IGP also directed the DIGs and DPOs to establish a model reporting room at least in one police station at divisional headquarters in which proper seating arrangements should be made and an ASI be posted as moharrar to facilitate complainants.

He asked the senior police officials to establish these reporting rooms by August 15 and submit a detailed report to him in this regard.
