KARACHI, July 28: President of the Sindh Democratic Alliance (SDA) Imtiaz Ahmad Sheikh has demanded of the provincial government to declare the entire Sindh as calamity-hit area forthwith.

In his telephonic conversation with the provincial chief secretary, Dr Mutawakkil Qazi, he said that in view of the precarious situation, the government should expedite the ongoing relief work and increase funds for relief and rescue work.

He also talked to the DCO of Badin by telephone and asked for details pertaining to the losses in rains and floods.

The minister directed him to ensure emergency measures to extricating marooned population as well as to provide food, medicine and drinking water to the affected people.

Meanwhile, Mr Sheikh asked the office-bearers and workers of the party in Badin district to establish relief camps and collect relief goods from philanthropists for the rain and flood victims.

Expressing his sorrow and grief over the considerable loss of life and property in Badin, Thatta and other areas of the province, he appealed to the masses to donate generously for the affected people.—PPI
