Two members of Karachi University's teachers' association have been taken into custody by law enforcement agencies while they were on their way to Karachi Press Club, DawnNews reported.

According to DawnNews, Meher Afroz Murad and Dr Riaz were allegedly picked up under the suspicion of being associated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-London).

However, MQM leader and Raabita Committee Member Wasay Jalil told Dawn.com that the two have no association with the political party and said, "They are just professors and were raising their voice against illegal detention of Dr Hasan Zafar Arif on an independent basis and were demanding their release."
