RAWALPINDI: A man allegedly shot and killed his wife and injured his two children in the Tench Bhatta area on Thursday, police said.

The police reached the scene of crime at Norozabad locality of Tench Bhatta and found the 55-year-old woman dead and shifted her two injured children - Zafran Zulfiqar and Sadia Zulfiqar - to the District Headquarters Hospital where they were stated to be in a critical condition.

Zafran in his complaint to the police stated that he along with his two sisters - Sadia and Madiha - and mother Pukhraj Begum were sitting in a room when his father Zulfiqar Khan started shouting in the courtyard of the house.

He said all of a sudden, his father targeted his brother-in-law, Afzal, who was sitting in the courtyard. However, Afzal remained unhurt.

Zafran said when his mother rushed out of the room she was pushed back and shot by his father. As a result, she died on the spot, he said in the murder case.

The complainant said his father also shot him in the leg and escaped from the scene.

Zafran said his brother-in-law Afzal had been staying in their house for about five to six years which his father did not like.

The police said they were searching for the alleged killer after registering a murder case against him. Separately, a motorcyclist was shot and injured by two robbers in Sadiqabad on Thursday.
